Neighborhood Metrics
| Combine up to 10 indicators into a single metric. |
|
 |
|
1 |
Enter a name and description for your metric. |
2 |
Add indicators by clicking on the 'add indicators' link, or by using the Data search options at the top of the page. |
3 |
If places with lower values for an indicator should rank higher in your metric, change the "Score Increases with" drop-down to Lowest Values. |
4 |
If some of your indicators are more important than others for your metric, you can give them greater weight by adjusting the 'Weight' drop-down. The score shows how your choices affect the rank of the selected location. |
5 |
Change the sample location by using the Place search options in the blue bar at the top of the page. |
6 |
The "Check Location Availability" box shows the geography types available for all of the indicators you have selected for inclusion in your metric. |
7 |
To save your metric, click "Create." The system will notify you by email when your new metric is ready to be used. |

| Publishing your Neighborhood Metric |
|
| If you want to share a Metric you have built so that other DataPlace users can use it, go to your My DataPlace page, scroll down to the Metric you wish to share, and click the "Publish" link to the right of the Metric name.
Important Tip: check the results of your metric carefully before publishing. Once an indicator is published, it cannot be deleted or edited. This way, other users do not need to worry about losing a preferred metric, or having a metric change without their knowledge. |
